Certain wines are considered appropriate for certain foods or occasions.
Wine with Food
The general ideas of serving wines with food is that the wines should enhance,
not overpower, the taste of the food. Heavier food goes with strong wines, and
lighter food goes with soft wines. Food Wines
Heavier Cabernets, Syrahs or Zinfandels are usually served with heavier meats,
such as beef. For lamb or pork, you choose Merlots or Pinot Noirs. For ighter
meats, such as chicken and fish, you may enjoy Madonna or Sauvignon Blanc.
Wine with Occasion
Pinot Noirs, Cabernets or Merlots are good choice for sipping at night. White Zinfandel
Lighter Red Wine are popular for picnicking. We celebrate with Champagne.
